Jam of the Day- Feb 18th 2012

As I attempt to get into the rhythm of maintaining this blog, I will be posting a song of the day including band info etc, etc.... Hopefully by doing this I can expose my friends and family to the music I enjoy and, in the process, maybe turn them on to something they may have never thought THEY would enjoy.

The first band I bring to you is Descendents. They were originally formed in Manhattan Beach, CA by guitarist Frank Navetta, bassist Tony Lombardo, and drummer Bill Stevenson as a new wave group in 1978. In 1980, the group enlisted a childhood friend of  Bill Stevenson, named Milo Aukerman, as a singer. The group then changed their appearance to punk rock in the up and coming hard core scene of Los Angeles. Their style of music is influenced by the experience of being a "geeky", angsty, suburban kid that is often misunderstood and picked on at school (this style would then later be ripped off by front man Rivers Cuomo of "Weezer" formed in 1992. But I digress). After many hiatus' and reformations of the group throughout the years, Descendents are currently active and play many shows and festivals.

Here is the first bit of my collection. A little Gem I pass on to you. This is probably my all-time favorite jam by Descendents. Embrace this track as if it were your first born child! "Clean Sheets" comes from their 1987 studio album "ALL" and was then re-released on a compilation album called "Somery" in 1991.

Enjoy! (no pun intended Descendents fans).

Feel free to post your favorite jams in the comments section below.
